History of Dowell Roofing

Joseph Dowell began roofing in 1991 under Gary “Coach” Johnson. Mr. Johnson modeled extreme levels of integrity and a work ethic that made a lasting impression on Joseph. Joseph worked for the next seven years under the highest standards and expectations in the roofing industry. During this time, Joseph graduated at the top of his class from Oakland High School, followed by a double major in Biology and Chemistry from MTSU where he graduated cum laude. Upon graduation in May of 1999, Joseph founded Dowell Roofing.

Over the next decade, Mr. Dowell further expanded his roofing into commercial, low slope applications; metal work (including fabrication); counter-flashing; and standing seam applications, as well as new specialty roof coating systems. Also during this time, Mr. Dowell cross-trained in other construction trades, including masonry, plumbing, framing, and tile work. Eventually operating as Dowell Tradesmen, the business began offering framing, roofing, and tile.

Today, after nearly 10 years of operating as Dowell Tradesmen, Mr. Dowell has decided to simplify and expand the business as Dowell Roofing. Once again, the knowledge and experience gained while mastering multiple disciplines has helped deepen Mr. Dowell’s construction acumen. He has become a world-class roofer. By extension, the team at Dowell Roofing is a world-class team, setting the highest roofing standards for today and tomorrow.
